Ed Thompson, Libertarian mayor and candidate, passes away at 66
Ed Thompson, Libertarian mayor of Tomah, Wisc. and brother of Gov. Tommy Thompson, passed away Oct. 22 at the age of 66 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Ed was surrounded by his children and his siblings.
In 2001 Ed was the Libertarian nominee for Wisconsin governor. In 2002, Ed was the Libertarian Party candidate for Wisconsin governor, receiving 11 percent of the vote and a seat on the state elections board. In 2010 Ed was nearly elected to the state senate race, losing by a razor-thin margin.
