Introduction.
Updated September 18, 2011Welcome to the official website of the Libertarian National Congressional Committee, Inc.
Our board adopted the name Libertarian National Campaign Committee, to better convey our expanded mission of supporting Libertarian candidates from the halls of Congress to the smallest school districts.
The LNCC was created by an act of the Libertarian National Committee. And while we work very closely with the LNC, we are both considered separate national committees of the Libertarian Party with separate boards and memberships.
We take your right to privacy seriously and want you to feel comfortable using our web site. The LNCC knows your right to privacy online is important. You do not have to identify yourself or divulge personal information unless you choose to give us your personal information. This Privacy Policy deals with personally identifiable information (referred to as “Data” below) that may be collected by us on our site, and attempts to answer any questions you may have regarding the LNCC’s data collection and protection policies.
1. Collection and Use of Data.
In our effort to grow the Libertarian Party, the LNCC may at times ask you to submit Data – such as your name, address, phone number and email address – in an effort to provide you the information you want in a timelier manner. If you choose not to give us such information, we may not be able to provide you with the timeliest information pertaining to: volunteer opportunities, candidate recruitment and training, online events, personal appearances, TV and radio appearances, talking points, activist alerts and other Libertarian related information.
When you make a contribution to the LNCC, federal law requires us to obtain the following information: name, mailing address, employer, occupation, and amount of contribution. We will also ask you to confirm that we can legally accept your contribution. Federal law requires us to report this information to the Federal Election Commission if an individual’s contribution or contributions aggregate in excess of $200 in a single calendar year. All donation confirmations will be sent via email. It is your responsibility to provide a correct and valid email address.
Under no circumstances will the LNCC sell Data to commercial entities.
The LNCC shares Data with the Libertarian National Committee to assist with our compliance with FEC laws, facilitate fundraising activities, coordinate candidate support and advance other mutual political objectives. In addition, we may share Data with state and local affiliates of the Libertarian Party, Libertarian Party candidates and outside organizations whose philosophies, goals and purpose are complimentary to our own. We may provide your email address or other personal information to authorized third parties required to deliver a particular service. These third parties may not use said information for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for the LNCC.
We may use Data to customize and improve your user experience on this site. We will make efforts so that your Data will not be provided to third parties unless (i) provided for otherwise in this Privacy Policy; (ii) we obtain your consent, such as when you choose to opt-in or opt-out to the sharing of Data; (iii) a service provided on our site requires the interaction with or is provided by a third party, by way of example an Application Service Provider; (iv) pursuant to legal process or law enforcement; (v) we find that your use of this site violates our this Policy, Terms of Service, other usage guidelines; or (vi) as deemed reasonably necessary by us to protect our legal rights and/or property.
2. Cookies, Web Beacons and Aggregated Information.
We may automatically collect certain information through the use of cookies or web beacons. Cookies are small data files stored on your hard drive at the request of a website. Among other things, cookies help us improve our website and your experience. If you wish to block, erase, or be warned of cookies, please refer to your browser manufacturer to learn about these functions. However, if you choose to remove or reject cookies, this could affect certain features at our site and on other sites throughout the World Wide Web. Web beacons are small, invisible graphic images that may be used on a website or in emails to collect certain information and monitor user activity related to said website or emails. We use web beacons to understand usage and campaign effectiveness and to ascertain whether an email has been opened and acted upon.
Like many web sites, we may also automatically receive general information that is contained in our server log files. We use an external service to provide to our staff and our agents real-time reporting of browser accesses to our site, including page views, unique views, unique visitors, frequency of visits, and peak-volume traffic periods. We use log files to assess the aggregate level of traffic on our site, including what pages people are visiting, and to diagnose any potential problems with the website. This log file does contain an “Internet Protocol” or IP address that gives us insight on the general geographic area that visitors are coming from but not information on a specific individual. We do not use log files to track a particular individual’s use of our site. All users remain anonymous unless they choose to give us personally identifiable information.
3. Protecting Data.
The LNCC makes every effort to protect your information from the moment you begin to enter your information to when it is stored on a secured server. We use a secure socket layer (SSL) – with the highest level of encryption commercially available – on pages where site visitors register or make a secure online contribution using their credit card. We use a secure/encrypted server for online credit card donations. The online contribution form is in compliance with FEC regulations.
Any credit card information provided is only used to immediately process your donation. The LNCC does not retain your credit card information once the donation is processed online. The LNCC has contracted with a third party to put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures to prevent unauthorized access. This third party is certified as compliant with current Payment Card Industry Security Standards.
Our site may contain links to other servers and websites, including social media sites. The LNCC does not bear responsibility for privacy policies or content on linked Web sites. Accordingly, you also agree and acknowledge that the LNCC will not be responsible or liable, directly or indirectly, for any damage or loss caused or alleged to be caused by or in connection with use of or reliance of any such content, services on or through any such site or resource or goods. You are advised to read the privacy policies that appear on those sites you choose to visit.
The LNC provides links to original articles written and maintained by third parties. These links are provided as a convenience and do not imply a claim of ownership in that content.
4. Protecting Children.
We ask that children under 18 not submit their information. In accordance with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), www.LNCC.org does not knowingly collect information from children. In accordance with the Federal Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), the LNCC will never knowingly collect personal identifiable information from persons thirteen years old or younger.
5. Editing Your Account Information.
Should you wish to opt-out of receiving emails, an unsubscribe link is included in every email. You may also update your e-mail address through a link in every e-mail or update other Data through various online forms. Data that you may have provided to us will continue to remain within our files at our discretion even though you have unsubscribed, in case you should re-subscribe in the future.
6. Changes to this Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to change the provisions of this Policy at any time. We will alert you that changes have been made by indicating on the Policy the date it was last updated. We encourage you to review this Policy from time to time to make sure that you understand how any personal information you provide will be used.
7. No guarantees.
While this Privacy Policy states our standards for maintenance of Data and we will make efforts to meet them, we are not in a position to guarantee these standards. There may be factors beyond our control that may result in disclosure of data. As a consequence, we disclaim any warranties or representations relating to maintenance or nondisclosure of Data.
8. Contact Information.
